IAHR AGM and all-day Meeting
Wednesday 23rd October 2002
Institution
of Civil Engineers, 1-7 Great George Street, London
Palmer
Room
A meeting is planned to bring together
experts and practitioners in the application of ecological and hydrodynamic
principles to habitat development and sustainability. Since many rivers and urban water-courses in the UK have been heavily
modified for drainage purposes, as well as being used extensively for waste
management purposes, they do not function as effectively as they might from an
ecological perspective. Pressure of
legislation within the UK, and that arising from the European Water Directive,
means that ecological assessments are now going to become increasingly
important as a means of monitoring and enhancing our natural environment. The meeting will explore the scientific
basis and practical application of various tools that might be used to enhance
habitats via hydraulics.
Costs: IAHR members - £70;
Non-members - £90; Students & non-earners - £20
See attached registration form.
