The John F. Kennedy Student Paper Competition was established in 1992 by the IAHR Council to honour the memory of Professor John F. Kennedy, former IAHR President and Honorary Member. Professor Kennedy made significant and lasting contributions to the Association, and is remembered particularly for his efforts to foster membership and participation of younger people.

The competition recognises conference papers from undergraduate and postgraduate students on the basis of written and oral presentations at the IAHR World Congress.

The 15th edition of the competition will take place in the frame of the 40th IAHR World Congress, to be held in Vienna, Austria, from 21 to 21 August 2023.
