TECHWARE

Introducing TECHWARE

TECHWARE (TECHnology for WAter REsources) is an independent, international non profit-making organisation. It was founded on July 1990 under Belgian law in Brussels, Belgium by 35 organizations from 11 countries. Its seat is the Brussels Water Company.

TECHWARE is a well-established, Europe-wide collaborative network of members who are involved in all cross-sectoral aspects of the water environment. The members include companies, universities and research institutions, public authorities, professional associations, and individual consultants. Networking offers a quick and efficient means of disseminating knowledge, skill, information and technology, thus bridging the gap between research, results and their application.

By involving training institutions TECHWARE links RTD with education and training at all levels.

TECHWARE offers a platform for projects by providing a forum for direct dialogue between participants themselves, professional and scientific associations and European and international authorities.

TECHWARE is recognised by the European Commission as a cooperation network of Universities and Enterprises and, in fact, the majority of TECHWARE's varied activites receive funding from the Commission. It is one of the biggest and most successful sectoral cooperation networks.

TECHWARE is frequently approached to take part in collaborative projects funded by international organisations such as the European Commission, agencies of the United Nations, etc. In such cases, it uses its extensive network to identify members who may be interested in participating in funded projects which either they might never have been aware of or for which they cannot apply individually.
