Abstract: The Xiaolangdi Hydro-project is another large project below the famous Sanmenxia Project. Its reservoir was impounded in Oct., 1999. Since then, the conditions of incoming runoff and sediment of the Lower Yellow River have been changed. The channel has been transformed from aggradation into degradation. The flood conveying capacity has been increased by 25-74%. Now, the channel erosion is still going on. The fact proves that the shrunk Lower Yellow River could be resuscitated its vigor through the reasonable regulation of water and sediment by the reservoir.
