Abstract: Supercritical bend flow has received some attention, particularly in the thirties and forties by Knapp and his co-workers. A summary of these studies was provided by Knapp (1951). Since these days, few contributions have been presented, except those of Ellis and Pender (1982) and Ellis (1985) with regard to the numerical modeling of curved chute flow. One would think that chute bend flow is understood as far as the design is considered.
