Abstract:

Sustainable development is a complex, multidisciplinary and particularly disputable topic to be understood by society. Today we are in front of two major challenges: sustaining an earth system with a safe environment and adapting human systems to change, securing and building resilient and just societies. In this sense, the issues of exposure, vulnerability and equity are also at the core of the formulation of adaptation policies leading to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Water resources and water adaptation are central to achieve sustainability, security, development, and the well-being of society.
