THE EFFECT OF CURVATURE IN SUPERCRITICAL SIDE WEIR FLOW

Abstract: The authors analyse flow over side weirs for supercritical inflow conditions by a semitheoretical approach. Recently the writer has performed extensive analytical and experimental investigations on so-called distribution channels, which include gradually varied, spatially decreasing flows in general and side-weirs, bottom and side-openings in particular [1, 2, 3]. The purpose of this discussion is to outline a different approach to the problem treated by the authors, to discuss some of the deviations and to specify some of the implications following from the extended model equations.
