Abstract: El-Nobaria canal irrigates 1. 076*102 feddans, in which eight potable water intakes take their water from it which suffers from pollution by agriculture drainage water at seven locations. A 59%of such drainage water (DW) is coming from El Nasr-3 main drain which tends to cause a deterioration of El-Nobaria canal water quality downstream its outfall feeding all intakes (seven potable intakes and several branches) locating downstream km (52, 960) on El-Nobaria canal. The DRAINMOD/DRAINMOD-N/DRAINMOD-S models have been tested at the field/field block scale using the field data of 2006/07 and 2007/08 to simulate outflow discharge, salinity and nutrient load at catchment’s agricultural outlets of El-Delengat Extension drain, El-Bostan drain, El Nasr-3 main drain, and El Nasr-1 drain. Five measures are used to justify precision of the simulation results. A surface water quality model, QUAL2K, has been calibrated and validated on El-Nobaria canal according to the field data during summer 2007& winter 2008, respectively. The study concentrated on salinity (TDS) ,nitrate-nitrogen (NO3-N) ,and TN. The water quality of El-Nobaria canal was investigated to estimate the impact of drain discharged on its quality. A proposed drainage reuse scenario is presented in this study to improve the water quality in El-Nobaria canal& its branches especially at the potable water intakes.
