This event is (co-)sponsored by the IAHRINTERCOH-2000
6th Conference on Nearshore and Estuarine Cohesive Sediment Transport Processes

September 4-8, 2000, WL|delft hydraulics, Delft, The Netherlands.
Conference theme: cohesive sediment, or mud, is encountered in all water bodies throughout the world. Often, mud is a valuable resource, synonym for fertile land, and used as building material for housing, etc. However, mud also hinders navigation, and dredging operations are carried out ever since ancient times to safeguard navigation. Unfortunately, today many mud deposits are contaminated, endangering the environment and increasing the costs of dredging operations progressively.
The transport and fate of mud in the environment is still poorly understood and the need for basic research remains. The Conference series INTERCOH, once started by Prof. Mehta, form an international platform where young and experienced scientists can meet and exchange views and ideas. INTERCOH-2000 will be dedicated to: Field and laboratory measurements and modelling of the transport of cohesive sediment with special emphasis on near-bed processes.
