Guidelines for documenting the validity of computational modelling software
This IAHR report prepared by Europe's leading hydraulic laboratories is now available for download from http://www.iahr.org . It contains a detailed set of guidelines for the documentation of the validation process of a computational model. Application of the guidelines to a particular model will produce a validation document: a collection of explicit statements about a model's technical quality, backed up by computational and experimental evidence to the extent that is available.

Trapezoidal open channels
I am a researcher at the University of Leuven, Belgium preparing a paper on the design of trapezoidal (prismatic) open channels (lined sections). I am specially interested in the variation of the Mannig n "coefficient" with water depth. Could anyone please forward to me any kind of hint or information related to this topic?. I would appreciate if someone could report his or somebody else's work defining an explicit expression to account for such variation.

Looking for equipment
We are looking for marine seismic refraction gear including; a refraction hydrophone array 12 or 24 ch, a small 10cu in sleeve gun and compressor, firing box, a 24-48ch seismic recorder, etc. This equipment should be typically geared towards shallow (10m) water depths and exploration depths of less than 30-50m. We are interested in leasing or purchasing used but good equipment.

Methods to remove waste out of rivers and drains
I am working in a well-known international consultancy -SMEC- on an interesting task to come up with sensible methods to remove household/commercial waste/litter out of rivers and drains. The quantities are well beyond what traditional gross pollutant traps are designed to remove [up to 10t/day]. I would be grateful if someone could assist in identifying similar projects around the world, publications, research and commercial providers of technology.

Hydromechanics and Unsaturated Flows in Jointed Rock
Indraratna, B. / Ranjith, P.G.
Publisher: A. A. Balkema Publishers
ISBN: 90 5809 309 3 , Paperback ISBN: 5809 310 7
Publication Date: August 2001
This book covers in detail, the fundamental aspects of fluid flow phenomena in a jointed rock mass, as well as various geological (structural) features and their influence on flow deformation characteristics. Various types of laboratory triaxial apparatus employed for testing saturated and unsaturated flow are also highlighted. Methods of testing and analysis of fluid flows have been compared where warranted, and modifications based on the authors' research findings are described. Especially, the salient features of a unique Two-Phase, High Pressure Triaxial Apparatus and its role in analysing the relative permeability of unsaturated flow through fractured rocks are presented. A new mathematical model representing two- phase flow in discontinuities is also introduced. The book is intended for final year thesis students, postgraduate researchers and practitioners.
