From: Hubert Chanson To: Subject: Rivers-List: Steel dams Date: donderdag 6 januari 2000 09:12 Dear IAHR Colleagues, I am looking for further information on 'steel dams' : that is, the old steel fixed dams. I believe that three were built, two being still standing although disused. I have prepared a general summary for university students, high school students, lecturers, teachers, engineers at : http://www.uq.edu.au/~e2hchans/steel_da.html The Internet link includes an information summary, based upon a series of famous references such as SCHUYLER (1909), WEGMANN (1922). , and the history of dams books by Norman SMITH and Nicolas SCHNITTER. Your comments and suggestions on the site would be most welcome. I expect that some photographs of Ashfork dam (1895) will be very-soon available on the web site, thanks to USDA engineers. I am looking for further information on the followings : - photograph of these dams, and - any information on other steel fixed dams, in America of elsewhere. The material and information will be used for teaching purposes. I might place it on the web if you are agreeable. I thank you in advance for the help. I look forward to hear from you.
