From: To: Subject: Rivers-List: point bars in meandering alluvial rivers Date: 12 September 2000 21:36 Hello all; we are working on methods to obtain areas of fish habitat on point bars in a meandering alluvial river on the Canadian prairies. I am wondering if there are algorhythms out there for predicting the degree of development of point bars in relation to radius of curvature of meander bends or if someone has practical experience in obtaining point bar areas in relation to hydraulic parameters in meandering rivers. PS I am a fishery biologist, not an engineer or physicist but I am aware of some of the literature along these lines. Just inquiring if there is a model out there we can test with field data. Thanks.
