AUTHORS INSTRUCTIONS
1. General All
papers are reviewed by at least two members of the Editorial Board,
consisting of internationally renowned experts in their specific field.
The annual volumes frequently include special issues by one of the IAHR
sections. On submitting papers, authors must assure that the paper has neither been submitted for publication nor has been published in another Journal. Authors are also asked to provide a list with the names, affiliations and addresses of three to five potential reviewers. Papers and technical notes should fit the scope of the Journal ( see inner page of front cover ). State-of-the-art papers are particularly desirable.
2. Submission of Papers and Technical Notes (size DIN A4) Language 2.1 Papers and Technical Notes should be written in either English or French, and authors are responsible for language quality. Authors whose native language is not English or French are recommended to arrange proof reading by a native speaker before submitting their manuscripts. This will expedite the review process. as e-mail attachments to papers@iahr.org
in MS Word or word Perfect for text and formulae, and EPS, TIFF, JPG,
Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator for figures. Grey scale scans should
be at least 350 dpi and bitmap line-scans 600 dpi resolution. The entire
paper should be contained within one file, if possible. If electronic
transmission is not possible, the original plus four double-sided copies
of each paper and a CD-Rom or diskette containing at least
the text should be sent to: Content and length 2.3 Papers and Technical Notes should contain as a minimum: 1. a concise and informative abstract, including keywords, of max. 200 words; 2. an introduction followed by the text; 3. conclusions; 4. a list of symbols; 5. a list of references (bibliography) to be referred to by number (in square brackets) at the end of the paper. 2.4 The length of a paper should not exceed the equivalent of 10,000 words, including formulae (one formula is three lines and equals 30 words), figures and tables ( figures and tables are 12 lines or equal 120 words ) or 20 pages typed in 12 pt Times New Roman with the spacing of 1.5 including the synopsis, illustrations and photographs. Shorter papers of significance will be given preference. Technical Notes shall not exceed 2,000 word equivalents. There will be a page charge of EURO 50,- per extra page for over-length papers. Format 2.5 The author's name and address should appear under the title, including details of position, employing organisation and full address. 2.6 The text should be typed in 12 pt with 1.5 spacing. Reference notes and footnotes should be typed at the bottom of the page to which they apply, and should be separated from the text by a line extending across the page. Pages should be numbered. 2.7 Authors are advised that papers are published in double column format and that figures normally occupy a single column width. Lettering should not be less than 2mm at this scale. 2.8 Internationally accepted symbols should be used, preferably the SI unit system. 2.9 For those unable to submit papers electronically, line drawings should be on tracing paper at a size suitable for a reduction scale of 2:1. Photographs should be quality enlargement prints on glossy paper. Captions to illustrations should be on a separate sheet of paper and cross-referenced by the number of the appropriate illustrations and photographs. Originals of line drawings and photographs should only be submitted upon acceptance of the paper.
