Dear Colleagues,
This is truly a deep shock. Erik has been a wonderful colleague and friend to IAHR over many years. What an awful year this has been for IAHR and our active senior leadership.

Dear All,
yet another sad message on an active member of our community ...
Last September at the Hydroinformatics Conference in Tianjin, China, Erik enthusiastically presented Hamburg as the next HI conference venue, trying to allign time and dates with the next IAHR-EU event in Munich.
Also, Erik was a valued guest lecturer at UNESCO-IHE and often visited Delft.
We will all miss him.

I was deeply shocked by Erik's totally unexpected and tragic death. He was truly a wonderful colleague and human being, and also a personal friend. I am grateful that I had the opportunity to collaborate with him over the past 10 years. His vitality, enthusiasm for life and optimism marked all of us who knew him well.
I convey my deepest condolences to his family, and to his students, colleagues and close friends at the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg.
