Abstract: The BANDAS database for stream gauging stations has the objective to obtain precise data of the natural phenomena that take place in Mexico. This information allows to control the behavior of the works of hydraulic engineering that provide service to the population and that increase their quality of life. The information from the Cointzio dam sub-watershed that complied with the necessary requirements for hydrological analysis was selected. The AX program, developed by the National Center for Disaster Prevention (CENAPRED), was applied to analyze the information obtained from the data capture systems, however, the information should be analyzed thoroughly and select the one that satisfies the necessary requirements for hydrological analysis. Runoffs for the design of hydraulic works, corresponding to different return periods in the area, were obtained. With these periods, the design floods for the Cointzio dam were generated.
