IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

3rd M. Selim Yalin Lifetime Achievement Award

for outstanding contributions in the field of hydraulic engineering and especially in the experimental research of hydraulic structures, as well as in the teaching and supervision of graduate students from around the world.

17th Arthur Ippen Award

Prof. Xavier Sánchez Vila
for outstanding contributions in the field of groundwater flow and contaminant transport with application to flow modeling in heterogeneous porous media.

18th Harold Jan Schoemaker Award

Prof. Umesh Chandra Kothyari, Prof. Kenjirou Hayashi and Prof. Haruyuki Hashimoto
for the most outstanding paper published in the Journal of Hydraulic Research during the period 2009-2010 entitled "Effect of large vegetation on sediment transport by channel flows".
