IAHR Development Fund

Donations to IAHR are extremely welcome: all gifts, of whatever size, make a great difference to us. It is possible to specify how you would like a gift to be used and the Executive Director is very happy to discuss possibilities and details.

Overview

Since 1990 IAHR has collected voluntary donations from members committed to supporting the global hydro-environment engineering and research community. Donated funds are used to support members unable to pay our membership fees, thus enabling them to participate in the global community. From 2015, following a review of the role of philantrophy for IAHR, we have established an IAHR Development Fund, and added a new focus -facilitiating the activities of our Young Professional Networks.

  • Lesser-Developed Country Initiative

  • Local or regional initiatives
  • IAHR general operation

  • An individual amount
  • Memorial or tribute gifts in recognition of a colleague, friend, or notable person
  • A legacy gift or charitable bequest from your estate
  • You can give as often as you wish, and your gift can be designated to support several initiatives
  • A gift to be fully applied immediately
  • A gift given at regular periods
  • An endowment gift that is invested to earn an annual income to support a designated activity (e.g., a travel scholarship for a student or short-course instructor)
  • A term gift to be invested but intended to be used over a specified period; e.g., 5 or 10 years

Tax Efficient Giving

Donations from European Countries to IAHR

IAHR can receive philianthropic donations from nearly every country in the EU and the donor can enjoy tax benefits from this. For more information please visit he Transantional Giving Europe website: http://www.transnationalgiving.eu/en/.

Donations from US/Canada

IAHR is not registered currently as a charitable organsiation in the US or Canada and therefore donations to IAHR do not qualify as tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code.

The value to society of charitable giving and philanthropy is recognised and growing in Europe and even more and more important in current troubled times. Many Member States promote such giving by providing fiscal incentives. Until recently, such benefits have stopped at national borders, but European and national fiscal and legal initiatives, in conjunction with the impressive extension of the Transnational Giving Europe network (TGE), have seriously improved this situation. European donors do not want to be hampered any longer by legal or fiscal hurdles when they want to create a new philanthropic structure or simply support a foreign organisation and enjoy tax benefits from this.
