Velocity characteristics of flow around finite square and circular cylinders

An experimental investigation was performed to study the structure of the flow field around a finite circular cylinder and square cylinder in a water channel. Detailed velocity measurements using a particle image velocimetry (PIV) system were conducted to examine the structures in the near-wake region. The iso-contours and profiles of the mean velocities and some turbulent quantities were obtained at various streamwise locations and discussed.
