Partition curve of hydraulic radius and flow characteristics in compound channels

ABSTRACT
Cross-sectional division method is a commonly used method in hydraulic calculation of compound channels. A new cross-sectional division method was proposed on the basis of principle of energy transfer and Einstein partition method of hydraulic radius. Experiments were carried in a long flume to test the validity and the applications of the partition curves. PIV was used to measure the flow field. Velocity distribution, boundary shear stress and flow distribution were analyzed.
