IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

Hpc evolution of the telemac system

ABSTRACT
This extended abstract presents the work undertaken at STFC Daresbury Laboratory in the last 7 years, pushing the HPC
limits of the TELEMAC system and focusing on the performance of some of its key modules, i.e. TELEMAC-2D and
TELEMAC-3D for 2-D and 3-D hydrodynamics respectively, TOMAWAC for wave propagation and SISPYHE for sediment
transport. Very large 2-D horizontal meshes are generated by mesh multiplication and the largest one used here contains
about 200 million elements. TELEMAC-2D has demonstrated very good scalability using this mesh. TOMAWAC,
TELEMAC-3D and SISYPHE have been internally coupled and the triple coupling has demonstrated good performance on
a few thousands of processors using a 10 million 2-D element mesh. Finally, task farming has been used to carry out
sensitivity studies using TOMAWAC and TELEMAC-3D and its performance assessed.
