IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

Model predictive control for delta management

ABSTRACT
Deltas are threatened by coastal and riverine floods. Moreover, other water management issues also need to be taken
into account in deltas, such as the water supply and navigation maintenance. As one of the most advanced real-time
control methodologies, Model Predictive Control (MPC) is introduced, in order to realize the adaptive delta management.
In this study, we show the way to apply MPC to general delta management problems, including flood prevention, water
supply, navigation and drought management.
