Huge tsunamis damage infrastructure seriously and kills or injures many people. A flap gate breakwater is one of the possible novel countermeasures against a tsunami attack. The performance in the event of a tsunami should be validated. In this paper, the applicability of a three-dimensional numerical analysis model, which was developed in our previous study and calculates fluid flow and rigid body motion simultaneously, to the wave response simulation of a flap gate breakwater was studied. First, the model was applied to a hydraulic experiment with a flap gate breakwater and the calculation accuracy was verified. Second, a real-size calculation with a virtual flap gate breakwater during a tsunami attack was simulated and the possibility for the real-size performance validation by the model was indicated.
