UNIDIRECTIONAL WAVE SPECTRUM MODELS FOR CHABAHAR BAY, GULF OF OMAN

There are different well-known wave spectra models; each useful under certain circumstances. These models are extracted based on field data at specified regions and wisely or blindly extended overseas. Even though, such approach of implementing a standard spectrum model is practical, however, error is its inherence. Appropriate unidirectional wave spectrum models for Chabahar bay at the north of Gulf of Oman are introduced in this paper. Wave filed in this region is mostly combination of seas and swell waves. Thus, observed wave spectrums have two peaks especially in monsoon season. The research is firstly focused on assessing performance of standard wave spectrum models in the region. By evaluating such models; calibration procedure has been conducted on such standard models using the valuable recently published measurement data to reach a better concordance between a modified standard spectral model and observed field spectra. Results show that for observed spectrum with one peak standard ITTC model is extremely more appropriate in this regions when compared with PM and JONSWAP models. However, for observed spectrum with two peaks standard Ochi-Hubble model performance is not appropriate and should be calibrated for this region. In order to catch a calibrated version and increasing the accuracy, the constant values of ITTC and Ochi-Hubble models are changed by applying GRG algorithm and modified versions of ITTC and Ochi-Hubble models are introduced as the best practical unidirectional spectra in Chabahar bay.
