COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF FLOODING AREA CALCULATION THROUGH DIFFERENT GEOMATIC METHODS

The surface water flow on safety and/or minimal risk conditions to people and property requires an appropriate assessment and management of the level of exposure to natural hazards of flooding. Consequently, it is essential to obtain an exhaustive knowledge of the area and the flow. Among the many techniques for acquiring geospatial information, the degree of detail achieved in 3D terrain modeling has allowed a significant increase in the knowledge of hydraulic properties in open channels and rivers. This research is aimed to analyze the influence of different riverbed 3D models building in the estimation and simulation of the surface occupied by the floods. The flooding risk calculation in a watershed can be comparatively estimated using different techniques geospatial data acquisition. For this, different grid configurations are compared by LiDAR techniques, and points cloud from Photogrammetry. The results show that there are significant differences in the occupation surfaces of flooding, depending on the 3D reconstruction technique.
