Estimation of rainfall intensity by using x-band polarimetric radar with raindrop falling trajectory

Severe storm makes water resources management in a small basin difficult because of their suddenness and irregularity. X-Band radar is one of the most useful devices for detecting the severe storms, which generates at a limited area. However, estimation of rainfall intensity from the X-Band radar does not have enough accuracy because of attenuation and falling effect to location. By using XBand polarimetric radar, better equations for estimating rainfall intensity by using both radar reflectivity and specific differential phase have been developed. However, the problem of location of rainfall was still remaining. By using University of Yamanashi radar, a new scheme to detect better location of rainfall from radar echo is developed. Better estimation of location gives the better resolution that is one of the advantages of X-Band radar.
