IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

Advances in Sediment Transport under Combined Waves and Currents

The coastal zone continuously changes due to natural processes and human interference. For understanding and predicting these morphological changes, an accurate description of sediment t ransport, caused by waves and tidal or wave-induced currents, is of great importance. This paper presents a review on the state-of-the-art knowledge of sediment transport under waves and currents, including sediment inception motion, bed form, bed roughness, bed-load transport, suspended-load transport, sediment-carrying capacity, and numerical simulation. Some possible research fields and topics in the further are proposed.
