The Test Study on Scour Law in Riverbed of the River Closure Gap

In process of the river closure, as the closure gap narrows continuously, both the water head between the upstream and downstream of closure dike and the flow velocity in the closure gap increase gradually, leading to riverbed scour, which will influence the stability of closure dike, so it is necessary to research clearly the scour law of riverbed to achieve safe closure. Based on model test, the scour law of riverbed is studied at different closure gap width, under the conditions of various dumping intensity and closure materials. It shows that the scouring pit present to ellipse shape, which major axis is along the flow direction, besides, the deepest point of scour is located at the dike axis. With the increasing of dumping intensity,the scouring depth decrease linearly. And closure materials have no effect on the erosion of the closure gap.
