Research on Influence of Aerator on Hydraulic Characteristics of Stepped Spillway Combined with X-shape Flaring Gate Piers

Combining with prototype observation data, the hydraulic characteristics of stepped spillway combined with X-shape flaring gate piers before and after the addition of aerator were studied by physical model experiments. The effects of different aerator types on the reduction of cavitation on the step surface were analyzed, and the type of the aerator was optimized. Means of improving the energy dissipation and preventing cavitation damage under the condition of the large discharge per unit width were explored.
