Ice Processes Simulation for Middle Route of South-to-North Water Diversion Project

As a Long distance water diversion project, Middle Route of South-to-North Water Diversion Project locating at north of Yellow River normally has severity ice problems which will threaten safe operation or lead to disaster. Compare to river, water diversion project comprises kinds of hydraulic control structures, so ice processes are more complex. In this paper, ice processes of Middle Route of South-to-North Water Diversion Project are simulated by one dimension ice-hydrodynamic model. Kinds of boundary conditions, such as divisions of flow, check gates, siphons, box culverts and so on, are also considered in the model and linearized to a uniform mathematic model to express. 51-years air temperature data along the project is collected to analyse ice regime at the worst air condition. According to simulation results, safe regulations for Middle Route of South-to-North Water Diversion Project in winter are also advised.
