Evaluate the effect of groundwater aquifer’s water level by regional group well pumping

The Choshui River Alluvial Fan is the biggest alluvial fan in Taiwan, and its groundwater quantity is also the richest. The alluvial fan has a division of the wet and dry season in the season. Average rainfall amount of the alluvial fan upstream is higher than the downriver. The rainfall amount is extremely uneven throughout the whole area. It also lacks the reservoir facility to store and regulate water volume of supply in the wet and dry season. It has the combine use between the surface water and the ground water resources. Because the lack of reservoir, therefore the water supply system relied on the ground water operation. Because of the big pumping amount and land subsidence, the government has transformed the western area of Changhua County into the groundwater-controlled-area; so the policy of the deep well development is necessary to recheck. Division of Choshui River Alluvial Fan groundwater aquifer was established in 1992. According to predecessor's research, the alluvial fan groundwater goes through the fan’s head, middle fan and fan’s tail. The flow route looks like a radiation fan shape. Because geological drilling depth of the Central Geological Survey (CGS), most researchers only simulated the aquifer to 300 m deep,region of this research is the north side of alluvial fan, Changhua County, and the main point of research focus is on deep well of Taiwan Water Company (a lot of deep wells surpass 300 m), therefore thickness of the fourth aquifer will need to revise (the Choshui River Alluvial Fan may divide into four aquifers and three confining beds). Geology of screen shape chart according to the Groundwater Network Plan; and consult space relationship of observation well water level, the aquifer could be separated into several districts of hydraulic coefficient K, using the model PMWIN5.1 (Processing Modflow; Chiang and Kinzelbach, 2001) to simulate groundwater flow. After completing the groundwater model, we will analyze the reasonably distribution of deep wells and provide the reasonable groundwater resources policy for decision-maker.
