WATER TEMPERATURE AND ICE CONDITIONS IN FENGMAN RESERVOIR, WINTER OF 2012-2013

A comprehensive prototype observation in the Fengman Reservoir was carried out to investigate the temporal and spatial variations of water temperature and ice conditions during the winter of 2012-13. The observed data show: 1) surface water temperature in the reservoir presents a longitudinal increase of 7.0?? in autumn, which results in the variation of freeze-up date along the reservoir; 2) a vertical inversion water temperature distribution existed beneath the ice cover, and the temperature drops in the front of the dam due to the heat discharge of power station during the ice season; 3) the outflow water temperature decreases at a steady rate of 0.16??/day
