SEDIMENT TRANSPORT UNDER ICE COVER

Studies on sediment transport under the influence of ice have been very limited. This paper discusses the effect of floating ice covers on the sediment transport capacity in channels based on available flume experiment data. Methods for calculating bed load and suspended load transport rates, as well as the bed resistance in channels with a floating ice cover for a complete range of flow conditions are presented.
