ICE OBSERVATION PHENOMENON OF THE MIDDLE ROUTE OF SOUTH TO NORTH WATER TRANSFER PROJECT

The canal system from Shijiazhuang to Huinanzhuang pumping station is a part of the middle route of south to north water transfer project, composed of 13 canal pools by gates. It is about 227km with water frozen phenomenon in winter every year. Changjiang River Science Research Institution made a field observation on the canal system from 2012/12/1 to 2013/3/10. In this paper, the observed ice phenomenon at different ice periods is introduced to help us to understand ice evolution regime and protect the canal system from ice disaster.
