The paper is focused on analytical consideration and description the transformation of ice ridge buildup to the buildup of ice rubble. Method of the investigation is based on the analysis of mass, momentum and energy balance in the boundary zone between the level ice and the ice rubble. Capability of ice rubble to breakup level ice by a bending is considered as an important factor influencing lower bound of the ice rubble draft.
