IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

Prof. Erik Pasche (1955-2010)

Prof. Erik Pasche from the Hamburg University of Technology, Institute of River & Coastal Engineering passed away suddenly and unexpectedly from a heart attack on November 30, 2010, at the age of 55.
Erik Pasche specialized in hydrodynamic and morphodynamic processes in rivers and coastal zones, and had more than 25 years of numerical and experimental research experience in the fields of flood management, and hydrodynamic and hydrological modelling.  Read full obituary

Dear Colleagues,
This is truly a deep shock. Erik has been a wonderful colleague and friend to IAHR over many years. What an awful year this has been for IAHR and our active senior leadership.

yet another sad message on an active member of our community ...
Last September at the Hydroinformatics Conference in Tianjin, China, Erik enthusiastically presented Hamburg as the next HI conference venue, trying to allign time and dates with the next IAHR-EU event in Munich.
Also, Erik was a valued guest lecturer at UNESCO-IHE and often visited Delft.
We will all miss him.

I was deeply shocked by Erik's totally unexpected and tragic death. He was truly a wonderful colleague and human being, and also a personal friend. I am grateful that I had the opportunity to collaborate with him over the past 10 years. His vitality, enthusiasm for life and optimism marked all of us who knew him well.
I convey my deepest condolences to his family, and to his students, colleagues and close friends at the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg.
