CIVIL ENGINEERING FACULTY POSITION – The Department of Civil Engineering at New Mexico State University (NMSU) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank. A strong background in structural and/or geotechnical engineering is desired with expertise in one or more of the following areas: structural design, bridge engineering, natural hazard assessment and mitigation, structural health monitoring, non-destructive testing, geomechanics / geomaterials, or structural reliability. A Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or closely related engineering field is necessary and registration as a Professional Engineer or the capacity to become registered within five years of appointment is also required. Primary duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in fundamental and advanced courses; developing and sustaining research programs in the applicant’s area of expertise; and recruiting and supervising MS and Ph.D. candidates. Opportunities for multidisciplinary collaborations are available through the NSF Center for Bio-Mediated and Bio-Inspired Geotechnics (CBBG) and the Sandia and Los Alamos National Laboratories.
