IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

Civil Engineering Technician, University of Nottingham, UK

An opportunity has arisen for an individual to join the Department of Civil Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering, as an Engineering Technician.

The role will provide technical support to researchers, students and academic staff within the Department of Civil Engineering. General assistance, under direction, providing practical support over a wide range of requested tasks to support research and teaching activities. Ranging from preparing and compacting test samples, physical digging out of test stone pits through to setting of test equipment and obtaining result. Construction of components, apparatus and test specimens for particular research experiments and teaching requirements, to a high degree of precision.  Assisting with the testing of structural materials, modifying and rectifying faults when required. 

Candidates should have a minimum of 5 GCSE’s including English, Maths, and Science, grades A to C, or 3 years’ experience in a relevant technical or scientific role. Some evidence of practical/DIY skills required. 

This is a full-time fixed-term post is available until 28 February 2018. A six-month probationary period is applicable to this post.
