2-Year Postdoctoral Fellowship, Eawag, Switzerland
Eawag, the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology, is an internationally-networked aquatic research institute within the ETH Domain (Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology). It conducts research to achieve the dual goals of meeting direct human needs for water and maintaining the function and integrity of aquatic ecosystems.
Highly qualified individuals are invited to apply for a
2-Year Postdoctoral Fellowship
to conduct research in any field in the area of aquatic science and technology. Eawag focuses on cutting-edge research that is driven by the needs of society and leads to significant advances in the aquatic sciences. Innovative approaches and technologies for the sustainable management and use of water are developed through collaborations among natural and social scientists and engineers.

The postdoctoral fellow will be hosted within one of Eawag’s 12 Research Departments (see http://www.eawag.ch/en/aboutus/portrait/organisation/). Selection of the postdoctoral fellow will be based on his or her academic record and his or her description of a research project to be conducted at Eawag. Please note that this fellowship is not intended to support the extension of a current collaboration between a potential applicant and a member of Eawag’s research staff.

An earned Ph.D. degree is required for the postdoctoral appointment. It is expected that the candidate’s Ph.D. degree will have been granted not more than 2 years before the application deadline. The candidate’s application must include:

  • a brief letter of application that includes the title of the proposed postdoctoral project and a brief abstract (not to exceed 250 words) written for a reader who is not an expert in the topic. The letter should also identify the Research Department that the candidate would be an appropriate host for the project

  • a curriculum vitae including a list of publications

  • a description of a research project to be conducted at Eawag. This description is limited to 3 pages (including references). A font size of at least 10-point Arial (or equivalent) and margins of at least 2.5 cm are required. Please note that the necessary infrastructure for the proposed project must be available at Eawag. Support for expenses related to the project (approximately 10K CHF/year) will be provided

  • names and contact information for two academic references.

The deadline for applications is April 3, 2017. The selection decision will be made towards the end of June. It is anticipated that the starting date for the postdoctoral fellowship will be between September and December 2017.

We look forward to receive your application.
