Applications are invited for a tenure-track faculty position in the area of water resources engineering in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in: experimental hydraulics, environmental fluid mechanics, open channel flow, and/or urban drainage. The candidate will be expected to develop a strong experimental research program in support of urban drainage research.
This is an opportunity to join a vibrant Water Resources Engineering group with expertise in the following areas: environmental fluid mechanics, urban drainage, river ice engineering, hydrology, hydroclimatology, cryosphere, remote sensing of environment, water resources planning and management, pipeline engineering, and water quantity and quality modeling. The group operates the T. Blench Hydraulics Laboratory, one of the largest and most well equipped hydraulics labs in North America. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is committed to securing a position among the leading schools in North America. With a present complement of 63 professors, research in the Department is vigorous and covers all major areas of Civil, Mining, and Petroleum Engineering. Our graduate program attracts outstanding students from the best schools worldwide and presently has an enrollment of close to 500 students, including approximately 250 PhD students.
All candidates are expected to be licensed professional engineers with eligibility for membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) and must have a PhD in Civil Engineering, or in a closely related field. Successful candidates must also demonstrate a commitment to teaching and research at the university level and are expected to develop a significant independent research program, supervise graduate students and teach graduate and undergraduate courses in their fields of interest.
