IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

Senior Lecturer in Civil Engineering, Leeds Beckett University, UK

The School of Built Environment and Engineering is looking to recruit a high calibre Senior Lecturer in Civil Engineering who will be required to contribute to the delivery and continued development of a strong portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Civil Engineering. The post holders will be expected to make a significant contribution to the academic support of student year groups through delivery of modules at all levels, and engaging in the development of high profile research and enterprise relationships / projects.

The successful candidates will be lecturers or practitioners who can demonstrate a commitment to high-quality teaching and subject leadership in the civil engineering subject area and related disciplines at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The ability to offer expertise in developing and delivering design based modules is also desirable.

We welcome applicants with a PhD, or other higher degree. Applications are also invited from those with a background in professional practice who can demonstrate extensive knowledge in the areas described, and/or an aptitude for teaching and research capability. Corporate membership, or eligibility for corporate membership, of the Institution of Civil or Structural Engineers (ICE or IStructE) is preferable.

The Civil Engineering Group expects the successful applicants to add to, and develop the delivery of the Civil Engineering courses at all levels and enhance the reputation of the School's provision in this increasingly important profession. We are looking for an innovative approach to teaching and the subject area with extensive knowledge and drive to engage students in the area of Civil engineering to help the School increase student satisfaction of the taught courses and the progression of our students.
