IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

2018 Membership Renewal
Dear IAHR Member,

Re. IAHR Membership Renewal for 2018

I keenly hope you have enjoyed your IAHR membership during last year.  Your fellow IAHR members are grateful for your participation in OUR worldwide community of hydro-environment engineers and researchers.  Participation can, of course, take several forms: involvement with technical committees, reading publications, or simply using IAHR’s news and jobs media.

Through this message I would like to invite you to renew your membership TODAY for the coming year.  I am pleased to inform you that IAHR’s 2018 membership fee is the same as for 2017.  IAHR membership continues to be good value – as confirmed by the high rate of renewal of IAHR’s members.  Your membership is vital support for IAHR’s activities: 35% of IAHR’s income typically comes from membership fees – the remainder comes from publications and congress income, and from IAHR sponsorship by Spain and China.

I encourage you to make as much use as possible of the benefits that your membership offers!  For example, IAHR events are scheduled to take place in over 20 countries throughout the world during 2018 – including IAHR regional congresses in Trento, Italy; Buenos Aires, Argentina; and Jogjakarta, Indonesia.  IAHR members receive large discounts on the registration fees for all these events.

During the coming year members will receive printed copies of IAHR’s popular quarterly magazine Hydrolink – featuring, for example, special issues on “hydraulics for leisure”, and “coastal reservoirs”.  Under the direction of Editor Angelos Findikakis, Hydrolink brings you short, easily-readable reports on specific innovative themes from the world of hydro-environment engineering and research.  All members can also receive the magazine in PDF form, and as a ‘page flip’ version for tablets and smart phones.

In addition to receiving the Journal of Hydraulic Research and the practice-oriented, online Journal of Water Engineering and Research, we offer members (at no extra cost!) the Journal of Ecohydraulics which was launched by IAHR in partnership with Taylor & Francis last year.  IAHR’s Journal of River Basin Management is available to members at a heavily discounted rate.

In 2018, IAHR will go live with its new website, suitable for any user platform – PC, tablet or mobile phone.  I’m delighted to say that the website will link you to a repository of papers from past congresses and conferences, and it will function as a wonderful platform for IAHR’s various technical and regional communities.

To renew your dues, click on Join-Renew Membership (username is by default your e-mail address and the password is your membership number).

Please don't hesitate to contact IAHR if you have any questions about membership.  Also, please use IAHR’s online forums, journals and newsletters to share your research and project news with fellow members of our worldwide hydro-environment community.

With best regards,

Prof. Rob Ettema
Chair, Membership Task Force and IAHR Council Member
