IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

Internship opportunity - Experimental methods in hydraulics; scale model tests; sensor calibration; image analysis, HR Wallingford, UK

Brief outlines of tasks: HR Wallingford is a world leading research and consultancy organisation that provides specialist advice and support in civil engineering and environmental hydraulics, and in the management of water and the water environment. We have a two-week internship opportunity on the Hydralab+ EU-funded research project. Based at our Oxfordshire, UK headquarters, you will work on projects in our Fast Flow Facility. You will help us to set up and run scaled model experiments and take velocity and laser scanner measurements. This internship will provide you with a good understanding of the experimental methods used in hydraulic engineering and environmental flows. You will acquire key skills in experimental methods in hydraulics; scale model tests; sensor calibration; and image analysis.
Financial support: Travel, accommodation and expenses will be provided through Hydralab+
