PhD positions at Imperial College London, UK
Several new PhD positions available. We would welcome applications from well qualified students with a good first degree in Engineering, Mathematics or Physics and a keen interest in offshore / coastal engineering. A sound background in fluid mechanics is essential, but specialist knowledge of waves or wave loading is not. Funding is only available for UK or EU citizens. The PhD topics all relate to the offshore oil and gas industry and are in the following areas:

- Fluid loading on pipelines
- Wave-current interactions
- Wave-in-deck loading
- Side-by-side offloading of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)
- Wave slamming on both fixed and floating structures

The proposed topics all involve close links with industry and it is expected that successful applicants will receive close academic supervision coupled with strong industrial input. The projects will involve numerical simulations and experimental measurements. As such candidates should have strong analytical and numerical capabilities. The studies will be jointly supervised by Prof. Chris Swan and Dr Marios Christou. The posts will be held open until suitable candidates are identified; the intention being to commence the projects at the earliest opportunity.

If you are interested in applying for these positions, please contact Rebecca Naessens (r.naessens@imperial.ac.uk) with a copy of your CV. Further particulars can be provided on request.
