IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

3.5 year fully funded PhD studentship in tsunami modelling, School of Ocean Sciences, Bangor University, UK
Please consider applying for the following fully-funded NERC PhD project in the School of Ocean Sciences, Bangor University:
Simulating tsunami inundation using smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH)

The PhD project will make use of, and modify, existing tsunami propagation models, and analyse field data, to study 2 major tsunami events: the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake Tsunami and the Storrega Landslide Tsunami (ca. 8000 ka BP). The focus of the project is tsunami inundation and sediment dynamics. There are funds for field visits to Japan and international conference attendance. There is an annual tax free stipend of £13,726 and an additional stipend of £1,000 per year from the industrial partner – British Geological Survey. This is a 3.5 year PhD project.
