IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

Hydrodynamics Postdoc Opportunity, New Jersey Institute of Technology, US
The Center for Natural Resources Development and Protection (NRDP) at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) has an immediate opening for a research position in the area of computational fluid dynamics. The research position requires conducting numerical simulations using CFD of water and oil flow due to water waves and jets, and to validate the numerical results by comparison to experimental results using advanced parameter estimation techniques.
The qualified candidate would have a PhD in Engineering or a related field and be able to conduct numerical simulations using existing programs or programs that they develop.  They must have a strong understanding of hydrodynamics and turbulence (including various turbulence closure models) and transport of chemicals in open water.  They need to have a demonstrated ability in writing articles for publication in top journals, and to possess excellent communication skills to mentor graduate students, and to interact with scientists/engineers in other fields, especially those investigating the biochemistry of oil in open water.  The position is open at the postdoctoral level, and is offered on the Main Campus of NJIT in Newark, 20 minutes from downtown New York City. The salary is very competitive.  NJIT is an equal opportunity employer.
The NRDP Center Director (Professor Michel Boufadel) and staff are conducting research on major projects including the Exxon Valdez oil spill, the Deepwater Horizon (Gulf) spill, natural gas extraction from Marcellus Shale, Hurricane Sandy, and Oil Sands. More information on the Center can be found at http://nrdp.njit.edu.
Interested applicants are urged to submit their application in one pdf file that contains a cover letter, CV, and research statement to nrdpcenter@gmail.com.
