IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

Tenure-track Faculty Positions in Civil Engineering, Manitoba, Canada
The Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Manitoba invites applications for three tenure-track positions in Building Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, and Water Resources Systems Engineering. Positions will be at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank with a start date of January 1, or July 1, 2015. 

The successful candidates: 1) must hold undergraduate and doctoral degrees in Civil Engineering or a related area; 2) must be eligible for registration as members of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Manitoba; 3) will be expected to develop and teach civil engineering courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels; 4) will be expected to establish an externally funded and sustainable research program; and 5) must possess excellent communication and leadership skills. For each position: we are particularly interested in candidates who complement existing expertise in the department, and who have a demonstrated record of research and publications in one or more of the following areas: 

Building Engineering (Position #18589): modular building systems, and innovative building materials and construction techniques, integrated design, sustainability in construction. Evaluation, design, and structural performance and serviceability of building systems. Building envelopes and indoor environment, including energy efficiency and air quality. 

Geotechnical Engineering (Position #16987): geomechanics, soil mechanics and foundations, soil structure interaction, and advanced constitutive modeling of geotechnical materials. Experience in the practice of geotechnical engineering will be considered an asset. 

Water Resources Systems Engineering (Position #18550): hydraulic systems simulation and optimization, resource planning decision support, risk and reliability, environmental systems modelling, water resources management, operations research.
