Post-Doctoral Researcher position available in the Center for Applied Coastal Research.
Working Location of Employee: University of Delaware, Newark, DE.
Qualifications: Candidate is expected to have a doctorate in coastal engineering, physical oceanography or closely related field. Candidate must have significant field and/or laboratory experience (deploying/retrieving sensors, data logging), experience in analysis of collected data using Matlab and dissemination of results via peer-reviewed publications. Additional desired skills include experience with sensor wiring, Arduino-type computers and associated sensors, and programming in Python and/or C/C++.
Responsibilities: The Center for Applied Coastal Research in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at The University of Delaware is seeking a postdoctoral researcher with an expected start date of June 1, 2015. The research includes: 1) the design of surrogate munitions including embedded sensors, 2) laboratory and field studies of munitions mobility and associated forcing conditions on beaches and 3) Defining/validating a force balance for munitions mobility on beaches.
