The Department of Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering Science and Technology, at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) announces the following vacant professorship/associate professorship in hydraulic and environmental engineering (dam engineering and safety). The Department has at present 8 professors, 3 associate professors, 5 part-time professors/associate professors and about 30 PhD candidates/researchers.
The Department covers the disciplines Hydraulic Engineering and Water and Wastewater Engineering, and has organized its activities in two research groups accordingly. Teaching is organized as part of NTNU's MSc-program in Civil and Environmental Engineering, where the Department offers MSc-specialization in its fields, as well as a PhD-program in the same areas. The Hydraulic Engineering group is already heavily involved in the research center for sustainable energy CEDREN (Center for Design of Renewable Energy) and is a central actor in the implementation of the faculty’s research strategy in the field of “Hydropower for Norway and the world”. NTNU has in collaboration with hydropower industry, established the Norwegian Hydropower Centre, in which the Hydraulic Engineering group also is involved. Thus, we would like to strengthen the staff in this field.
The position will be responsible for teaching and research in the field of hydropower engineering with particular emphasis on dam engineering and dam safety. The appropriate candidate for the position must have a relevant background in hydraulics and hydropower engineering in general. The candidate must be willing to initiate research activities in dam engineering and dam safety, including industrial contract research. Required key qualifications are a PhD in civil engineering and experience in dam engineering/dam safety. Emphasis will be placed on experience in teaching and supervision of MSc students in the field.
