IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

Research Assistant in Carbon Dioxide Dispersion Studies, UK
A Research Assistant is being sought by the University of Strathclyde to work on the EPSRC funded S-Cape project. The aim of this project is to develop validated and computationally efficient shelter and escape models describing the consequences to the surrounding population of a carbon dioxide (CO2) release from Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) transportation infrastructure.

The post holder should have a Good first degree (minimum 2.1) in an appropriate engineering/scientific/mathematical background allied with experience in consequence analysis and/or dispersion studies related to pipeline engineering and in particular the behaviour of CO2. The successful candidate must be able to work collaboratively and have a commitment to excel in this research area, including the ability to publish at an International Standard.

The project is being funded through the UKCCS Research Centre (UKCCSRC) and further details of the work of the centre and the project can be found at this website https://ukccsrc.ac.uk/resources/ccs-projects-directory/shelter-and-escape-event-release-co2-ccs-infrastructure-s-cape.

Further information on the application process and working at Strathclyde can be found on our website (http://www.strath.ac.uk/hr/workforus).

We value diversity and welcome applications from all sections of the community.

The University currently holds a Bronze Athena SWAN award, recognising our commitment to advancing women's careers in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM) employment in academia.
