Hours:            40 hours per week, Monday – Friday
Pay Range:        Based on Experience
 
WEST Consultants, Inc. specializes in advanced water resources investigations, working toward sustainable solutions that balance the needs of the users with those of the environment.  The firm’s scientists and engineers are nationally recognized in hydrology, hydraulics, sediment transport, fluvial geomorphology, and water quality for both wet and arid environments.
 
Working internationally from seven offices in Oregon, Washington, California, Arizona WEST measures, models and forecasts river and steam systems for public and private clients.  Our analyses serve water infrastructure design and operation for dams, reservoirs, levees, bridges, flood warning systems and water conveyance projects.  WEST also develops environmental best management practices for wetland protection and river restoration. 
 
Responsibilities may include:
Conduct water resources engineering evaluations and studies.  Assess and evaluate complex water resource systems including watersheds receiving rain and snow, reservoirs, channels, and other hydraulic structures. Conduct floodplain modeling and mapping using single and multi-dimensional numerical models. Plan, design, and develop environmental monitoring, flood forecast and warning systems. Assess impacts of climate change on water resource systems. Use GIS tools to pre- and post-process data.  Prepare figures, maps and graphics. Organize, manipulate and evaluate data using spreadsheets or other engineering software. Prepare technical reports and memoranda.

0-8 years related experience
 
Skill Requirements:
In addition to being enthusiastic about working in the field of water resources the successful candidate should have the following skills:
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently & manage time as well as work as part of a team
  • Strong computer skills, knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Excellent problem solving abilities
  • Knowledge of HEC models, numerical models, water quality models systems analysis models (Riverware, WEAP, CalSim, etc.) GIS/CAD and programming skills are a plus.
  • Experience with radar rainfall estimation and automated data collection systems are also a plus.

Educational Requirements:
MS or PhD in Civil or Environmental Engineering or water resources related field is required.  P.E. Registration Preferred
